ITM Power has entered into a new partnership with Hygen Energy. As part of the deal, the Sheffield-based manufacturer has been appointed as the favored supplier for proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers for hydrogen projects in the UK and across Europe.
Two phases make up the collaboration. Initially, a 50-megawatt array of Neptune Plug and Play electrolyzers will be installed across multiple projects. This will progress into the second phase, involving 150 MW of larger-scale, modular electrolyzers. Final investment decisions will determine the execution of each project, according to ITM Power.
Hygen Energy, headquartered in Oxford, is a notable developer, producer, and asset owner of low-carbon hydrogen production facilities operating within the UK and across Europe. Their primary focus is on decarbonizing the mobility, construction and power industries, as well as hard-to-electrify sectors.
Dennis Schulz, ITM Power’s CEO, expressed his eager anticipation for the partnership with Hygen and subsidiaries RYZE and Wrightbus. He remains hopeful that the collaboration will fuel the green hydrogen economy’s growth.
