K2 Management has been selected to provide advisory services on two wind projects in Vietnam–one nearshore and one onshore wind project.

Developer Xuan Cau and an foreign investor have appointed K2 Management as Owner’s Engineer for a 60 MW onshore wind farm in the Binh Dinh province of Vietnam. The scope of work will begin with the tendering of the BoP package in the pre-construction phase and full construction management through to the commissioning phase, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

The second term, also for Xuan Cau, is the position of Owner’s Engineer in a nearshore wind farm located in the province of Soc Trang. The project will have a capacity of 120 MW divided in two phases. The scope of work for this 18-month role shall include tendering, site studies and technical design review during the pre-construction process followed by construction supervision and project management.

“Xuan Cau has strong renewable energy ambitions in Vietnam. Wind projects are complex, not only technically but also in getting contracting and tendering right. K2 Management shares with us the right balance of international experience as well as local knowledge and technical expertise, which is a great benefit in this growing market. We are confident that with their support these projects will be a great success.”

Mai Đức Hùng, project secretary from Xuan Cau.

“Projects close to the sea or in the sea require extra special attention at all phases of the project. From the sourcing of the turbines and balance of plant to the execution of the project, everything has an additional challenging layer, compared to a standard onshore wind project. We are very pleased to work alongside this well-established, international wind player and local major developer, bringing our technical know-how and experience to make better energy projects.”
