A number of agreements were made in Singapore for the manufacture and supply of green ammonia, which may be used to fuel ships and transport hydrogen, as well as the low-carbon fuel hydrogen.
With an emphasis on things like creating ammonia supply chains and producing green hydrogen, Sembcorp signed three new agreements with three Japanese companies: the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, conglomerate Sojitz Corp, and engineering firm IHI Corp.
On the margins of the Singapore International Energy Week conference, which is taking place at Marina Bay Sands, the agreements were inked.
Separately, Keppel Infrastructure and the Indian renewable energy firm Greenko signed a contract to investigate the viability of constructing a production facility in India that could produce at least 250,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.
When consumed, hydrogen emits little to no greenhouse gases, making it a low-carbon fuel that can be utilized as a feedstock to power machinery or industrial processes. Hydrogen could have almost no emissions when it is created by electrolyzing water using renewable energy, separating the water into hydrogen and oxygen.
