Kimberly-Clark has struck a contract with Carlton Power to supply hydrogen to the company’s Barrow factory.
The initial phase of the project will include a 35MW electrolyser, which is estimated to generate over 3500 tonnes of hydrogen per year. The electrolyser will manufacture the hydrogen from electricity generated mostly from wind and sun.
With the help of this alliance, Carlton can move on with its plans for the Barrow Green Hydrogen scheme in Cumbria. Recently, Barrow Green Hydrogen was announced. Kimberly-Clark will get hydrogen from Barrow Green Hydrogen, which will be used to power the company’s facilities. The £40 million proposal is expected to go into full operation in 2025, pending proper planning and funding.
