Klaipėda Port Authority has taken a significant step toward sustainable energy by signing a contract with MT Group. The agreement involves the supply of equipment for green hydrogen production, along with stationary public refueling stations.

The production of green hydrogen at Klaipėda Port is set to begin in 2026. Currently, the design work is underway, and tendering processes will soon start to select a contractor for housing the production equipment. These preparations signify a major move towards adopting clean energy solutions at the port.

Algis Latakas, the director general of Klaipėda Seaport Authority, has expressed his enthusiasm about this development, emphasizing that it introduces another environmentally friendly energy form to Lithuania. This initiative aligns with global trends of investing in sustainable energy to reduce carbon footprints.
