Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) is partnering with the Czech Republic’s Hydrogen Technology Platform (HYTEP) to advance hydrogen production, leveraging nuclear technology.
This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the Korea-Czech Industry & Energy Technology Cooperation Forum in Prague on September 20.
The agreement outlines several areas of focus, including the development of nuclear-based clean hydrogen technology, support and expansion into other hydrogen fields like fuel cells, and the enhancement of hydrogen policy and information exchange. The ultimate goal is to bolster both countries’ positions in the global clean hydrogen market.
With a shared objective of facilitating a global clean energy transition, KHNP and HYTEP are committed to establishing clean hydrogen infrastructure and advancing hydrogen technology within Europe. KHNP aims to leverage its expertise gained in Korea to penetrate the European clean hydrogen sector effectively.
Young-gon Kong, the head of KHNP’s H2 & Smart Business Department, expressed optimism about the partnership. He stated that this collaboration would help Korea achieve global competitiveness in the clean hydrogen industry, emphasizing the country’s dedication to the European market through Czech cooperation.
