A collaboration agreement between Landsvirkjun and Linde is anticipated to aid Iceland’s energy transition by fostering the growth of clean hydrogen and e-fuel initiatives.

According to Landsvirkjun, the alliance will use Linde’s expertise in the chemical sector with Landsvirkjun’s knowledge of renewable energy to hasten the development of green hydrogen and e-fuels.

Rikardur Rikardsson, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Innovation at Landsvirkjun, said: “We welcome this collaboration with Linde, which enables us to continue the development of projects with the aim of producing e-fuels for transport and other novel energy transition off-takers by the year 2025.”

Daniel Mateos, Head of Business Development, Linde, Region Europe North, commented: “Linde and Landsvirkjun are aiming to play a key role in the clean energy transition in Iceland. The complementary strengths and expertise of both companies across the full value chain, from renewable energies to clean fuels, will enable the safe and reliable supply of clean hydrogen and e-fuels.”

In addition to running a cylinder-filling facility, Linde already provides Icelandic customers with locally produced oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide.
