Linde has partnered with Hyosung Corporation, one of Korea’s largest industrial conglomerates, to develop, own and run a large-scale new liquid hydrogen system in South Korea.
This robust hydrogen network will help the country’s ambitious decarbonization plan to reach net zero emissions by 2050.
Linde will build and run the largest liquid hydrogen facility in Asia. With a capacity of more than 30 tons per day, this plant can process enough hydrogen to fuel 100,000 vehicles and save up to 130,000 tons of carbon dioxide tailpipe emissions per year. Based in Ulsan, Linde’s proprietary hydrogen liquefaction technology is used to manufacture around half of the world’s liquid hydrogen. The first phase of the project is scheduled to launch operations in 2023.
Under the agreement, Linde will sell and distribute liquid hydrogen produced in Ulsan to the growing mobility market in South Korea. In order to achieve this, the joint venture will develop, own and run a national network of hydrogen filling stations.
