The world’s first operating hydrogen-powered ferry for automobiles and passengers in Norway has started receiving liquid hydrogen from Linde.

For the fuel-cell-powered MF Hydra, Linde is supplying ferry operator Norled with clean hydrogen. Linde designed, built, and installed the fuel containment system, together with the accompanying on-land truck-to-ship bunkering facility, onboard storage tank, and fuel processing machinery, in addition to providing clean liquid hydrogen. The ferry has finished its sea trials and begun running for profit.

Linde, one of the top industrial petrol and engineering firms in the world, is essential to the shift to renewable energy. Via its top-tier engineering team, significant partnerships and joint ventures, and effective use of its vast knowledge and infrastructure, the company is actively assisting its customers in decarbonizing their operations with the most recent hydrogen technology. In addition to expanding its traditional hydrogen business along the full value chain, Linde is creating clean hydrogen projects across a variety of applications and industries.
