LONGi Hydrogen has won a bid for world’s largest green ammonia demonstration project in Jilin, China.
On October 26, 2022, the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) and Jilin Electric Power launched the Da’an Wind and Green Hydrogen Synthesis Integrated Demonstration Project in Jilin, China. The project, which was part of the “Hydrogen Energy Promotes Jilin” Action, is aimed at ensuring national energy security and advancing the goal of carbon neutrality. The project will pave the way for a new era in hydrogen energy utilization and green electricity conversion.
The project is designed according to the “new idea of green hydrogen system” of “green hydrogen consumption of green electricity, green ammonia consumption of green hydrogen, and integration of source-grid-load-storage”. It will have a total investment of $0.92 billion and a total installed capacity of 800MW of wind and solar energy. Additionally, it will have a new 220 kV booster station, supporting 40MW/80MWh energy storage, and a new 46,000Nm³/h hybrid hydrogen production system consisting of 50 sets of PEM hydrogen production systems and 39 sets of alkaline hydrogen production systems. The project will also have 60,000Nm³ hydrogen storage and an 180,000-ton synthetic ammonia plant, with pre-reduced CO₂ emissions of 650,000 tons/year.
The Da’an project aims to open up the entire industrial chain of hydrogen energy and promote the construction of a new energy system. It has achieved six No.1 technologies in China and three leading technologies worldwide. Furthermore, it has been listed as a key project in 2022 by Jilin Province and recognized as a green electricity conversion industry benchmark project by SPIC.
LONGi Hydrogen, a provider of large-scale green hydrogen electrolyzers and solutions, successfully completed the shipment of the world’s first 10,000-ton green refining and chemical demonstration project named Sinopec’s green hydrogen project in 2022. The company won 15 sets of 1000Nm³/h electrolytic water hydrogen production systems, with a market share of 38.5%, ranking first in the bidding for the world’s largest green synthetic ammonia project that was launched this year. LONGi Hydrogen has conducted several months of research and demonstration on the Da’an project and proposed suitable product technical solutions for the scenarios of renewable energy hydrogen production and synthetic ammonia terminal applications.
LONGi Hydrogen provides 15 sets of products with international certification for system safety and energy consumption for off-grid hybrid hydrogen production. Three sets of 4-to-1 hydrogen production systems are used for flexible ammonia synthesis, and three sets of 1-to-1 electrolytic hydrogen production systems are used for DC microgrid. LONGi Hydrogen’s product has a wide range of adjustment capabilities, is compatible with IGBT power supplies and thyristor power supplies at the same time, and has a fast power regulation speed, which can perfectly meet the adjustment needs of large-scale wind-solar hydrogen production under fluctuating conditions.
In conclusion, the Da’an Wind and Green Hydrogen Synthesis Integrated Demonstration Project in Jilin, China, is a remarkable example of a large-scale green energy project that will help reduce carbon emissions and promote the use of hydrogen energy. The project is expected to open up the entire industrial chain of hydrogen energy and promote the construction of a new energy system. LONGi Hydrogen, as a provider of large-scale green hydrogen electrolyzers and solutions, has made significant contributions to this project by providing suitable product technical solutions for renewable energy hydrogen production and synthetic ammonia terminal applications.
