McDermott has joined an IPMT assembled by Tata Steel IJmuiden to direct the development and implementation of the Heracless hydrogen project.

The work is being done at Tata Steel’s facilities in IJmuiden, which is located 19 miles (30 kilometers) east of Amsterdam. The goal of the project is to lay the groundwork for sustainable hydrogen-based steel production at the plant through the installation of Direct Reduced Iron Plant (DRP) and Reducing Electrical Furnace (REF) technology.

McDermott’s center of excellence in The Hague, the Netherlands, and Tata Steel’s facilities in IJmuiden, the Netherlands, will be responsible for carrying out the project’s tasks.
