Metron and Cellula Robotics have signed a strategic partnership agreement aimed to enhance UUV capabilities for long duration operations in dynamic environments, addressing technical gaps in the UUV defense and offshore energy markets.

Specifically, the collaboration intends to tackle some of the biggest challenges of long duration, multi-payload mission operations, usually in conditions where communication channels are severely restricted or even non-existent.

As part of this ambitious initiative, Metron’s Resilient Mission Autonomy™ portfolio will be integrated into Cellula’s Solus and Imotus families of vehicles. Together, these two leading technologies will provide AI-enabled situational awareness and the ability for onboard, real-time mission adjustments and rerouting. Furthermore, the partnership includes plans for a multi-payload management system and the flexibility to deploy from ships or port-to-port.

One of the highlight features of this partnership will be the inclusion of Cellula’s hydrogen fuel cell technology in their Solus-LR and Solus-XR platforms. This cutting-edge technology enables sustainable, long duration operations with zero carbon emissions. The result is a reconfigurable and scalable UUV solution, ideal for reducing risk and cost while maximizing mission flexibility and efficiencies.

The increasing maturity of surface and subsea operations has led government agencies and commercial businesses to look toward uncrewed platforms that can work independently or collaboratively cover larger areas more sustainably and efficiently.
