Mitsubishi Power, a powerful brand of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI), has signed a full turnkey contract with leading Egyptian oil and gas company Alexandria National Refining & Petrochemicals Company (ANRPC) to provide advanced hydrogen fuel conversion technology solutions that will help the company meet its decarbonization goals. The system will be implemented at the ARNPC refinery complex in Alexandria, which supplies 30 percent of Egypt’s domestic gasoline supply.
Mitsubishi Power will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of fuel conversion solutions for the current 100-ton/hour boiler by the end of 2023, allowing it to fire up to 100 percent hydrogen. To guarantee effective and safe operations, state-of-the-art hydrogen burner technology and modern control solutions will be installed.

ANRPC, which was founded in 1999 and is part of the Egyptian general petroleum corporation, is Egypt’s main refining firm (EGPC).
Mitsubishi Power’s hydrogen firing technology allows owners of thermal power plants to decarbonize their units with little changes. This is part of Mitsubishi Power’s commitment to collaborating with customers to develop a long-term strategy for lowering CO2 emissions.
