LFC to import blue ammonia from Saudi Arabia
Lotte Fine Chemical (LFC) of South Korea will import 50,000t of blue ammonia from Saudi Arabia by the end of this year.
LFC and Sabic, a division of Saudi Aramco and a chemical producer, will trade 25,000 t of clean ammonia by the end of this year. The LFC ammonia terminal in South Korea’s Ulsan port will receive the clean ammonia delivery.
According to LFC, South Korea’s willingness to establish a hydrogen economy served as the driving force behind Saudi Arabia’s decision to export to that country.
First hydrogen hyperscooter introduced by Turkish engineers
The first hydrogen hyperscooter has been introduced by a Turkish company.
Four Turkish engineers and business owners who work in the Technical University of Istanbul’s technology park on hydrogen patents came up with the concept.
The initial prototype, dubbed The Hebunk, is a hyperscooter that runs on hydrogen energy. It charges in just five minutes and achieves 60 kilometers of autonomy.
Hexagon Purus supplies hydrogen fuel systems to CaetanoBus
Hexagon Purus has signed a four-year supply agreement with CaetanoBus as their preferred provider of hydrogen fuel systems for serially produced fuel-cell transit buses.
Hexagon Purus has already provided many hydrogen fuel systems to CaetanoBus as a supplier. The bond between the two partners is further formalized and cemented by this agreement.
The Kassel, Germany factory of Hexagon Purus will provide the hydrogen fuel systems. Approximately 35 million euros is the potential value over the frame agreement’s lifetime (approximately NOK 350 million).
Patriot Hydrogen begins operations in Malaysia
With the first of many projects aimed at generating hydrogen, biochar, and renewable energy across the nation, Patriot Hydrogen has begun operations in Malaysia.
The first undertaking will be a strategic joint venture between Malaysian project developer Patriot Hydrogen and Singapore investment firm Patriot Hydrogen.
Patriot’s first project in Asia, which will be based in the Malaysian State of Terengganu, will be entirely renewable and concentrated on the production of biochar, wood vinegar, and carbon credits.
Land, feedstock, and clients for the biochar have all been secured for the project. The plant will use all of the renewable energy produced for internal energy needs as well as to power a nearby mill and other facilities it uses.
The plant attempts to alleviate a biochar scarcity in Malaysia by using a gasification method with wood waste as the feedstock to produce over 1.5 tonnes per day of high-quality biochar.
$803,000 to Quickstep for hydrogen storage research and development
Quickstep, an aerospace composite firm, has received an $803,000 research and development investment from the state of New South Wales in order to create intelligent composite hydrogen storage systems.
This funding comes from the state’s Clean Technology Innovation Research and Development Program, which provides incentives for the further development, testing, and eventual commercialization of clean technology created inside the state.
The money will go toward Quickstep’s 12-month program to improve filament winding process solutions, complete material choices and testing, finalize new tank designs, and launch practical demonstrations of the intelligent storage system.
The team will also conduct research on how to combine a fuel cell propulsion system with a composite hydrogen storage solution.
Omni Tanker, situated in Smeaton Grange, New South Wales (NSW), is Australia’s primary producer of sophisticated composite tanks for use in industries such as industrial chemicals, space, and others.
CaetanoBus wins French hydrogen bus tender
Les Sables d’Olonne, France, recently placed an order for two Caetano H2.City Gold fuel cell buses, which are built by CaetanoBus using technology licensed from Toyota. The H2.City Gold is a regular 3-door, aluminum-bodied, low-floor bus.
Les Sables d’Olonne, France, recently placed an order for two Caetano H2.City Gold fuel cell buses, which are built by CaetanoBus using technology licensed from Toyota.
The H2.City Gold is a regular 3-door, aluminum-bodied, low-floor bus. The vehicle has a Siemens engine that can provide a peak power of 180 kW and a Toyota fuel cell that can produce a nominal power of 60 kW. The LTO battery has a capacity of 44 kWh and was supplied by the French company Forsee Power. All activities using Caetano’s H2 fleet acknowledge H2.City Gold’s energy efficiency is the segment’s lowest H2 consumption.
The H2.City Gold, produced by CaetanoBus and available for use beginning in 2020 across Europe, has already had over 70 units sold, with the majority going to the German market.
To produce this bus, Toyota teamed up with Caetano, the first European firm to employ Japan’s Fuel Cell technology.
The McPhy Energy hydrogen mobility plant has officially opened
McPhy Energy, a Grenoble-based company with 70 employees and a projected annual revenue of €10.40 million by 2021, is constructing a new, over 4,000 square meter plant specialized in hydrogen transportation. Research and development, engineering, production, and support for hydrogen transportation and charging infrastructure are all brought together. The company’s new headquarters will be located there as well. This facility is now up and running, and it should allow McPhy to increase its yearly production capacity by seven, from the present 20 charging stations to 150 units when the plant is running at full capacity. This would result in the creation of more than a hundred direct employment.
Ceará is contemplating a R$530 million investment in green hydrogen
The state government of Ceará is considering allocating R$ 530 million to the Ceará Verde Fair Energy Transition Program. The Consultation Letter for loan operation was reviewed by a group from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRD) on Thursday, September 27. World Bank officials are now reviewing the paper.
The paper states that Ceará would use World Bank funding to invest in infrastructure improvements, mostly in the form of capital goods for technology and innovation firms involved in the energy transition’s supply chain, with a particular emphasis on green hydrogen (H2V).
Hugo Figueirêdo, president of Cegás, spoke during the conference and emphasized the company’s position as a national leader in the distribution of Sustainable Natural Gas (GNR), a 100% renewable fuel that originates from biogas created via the decomposition of solid waste.
