SK E&S expands hydrogen and renewable energy partnership with Vietnam

SK E&S began enhancing commercial ties with Vietnamese businesses and government institutions in the area of eco-friendly energy.

By assisting Vietnam in securing reliable power and achieving the goal of “2050 net zero” based on its accumulated competitiveness by dominating the clean hydrogen, LNG, and renewable energy sectors, it intends to contribute to economic cooperation and a strategic relationship between Korea and Vietnam.

The ‘Korea-Vietnam Business Forum’ and ‘MOU signing ceremony’ were conducted at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hanoi on the 23rd, and SK E&S reported on the 25th that it had signed a number of MOUs with governmental organizations and local businesses at those events. Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Lee Chang-yang, SK E&S CEO Choo Hyung-wook, who was in Vietnam on an economic mission, as well as regional business leaders and government representatives, all attended the signing ceremony.

GAC showcases hydrogen-powered MPV

With the demonstration of a multipurpose vehicle that can drive 600 kilometers (373 miles) on a single tank on Monday, Chinese automaker GAC Group revealed its attempts to build hydrogen-powered vehicles.

According to Toyota’s manufacturing partner, their hydrogen-powered E9 van, which it claims to be the first passenger car model to use liquid hydrogen fuel in China, can travel up to 100 km on just 1.4 kg of hydrogen. The model’s price and other specifics are still to be revealed. Adigo Magic, an open-source software platform that enables swift in-car software service development and testing, was also unveiled by the business, which also announced that its high-end coupe Hyper GT will be the first model to have its in-car software created on the platform.

Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Awards announced

Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Awards were given to 316 projects (or people), 10 of which were from Jiading District.

The Jiading District government nominated and Shanghai Refire Group, in collaboration with Tongji University, Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection and Certification Research Center Co Ltd, and Unilia (Shanghai) Fuel Cells Incorporated, carried out the “Long-life Commercial Vehicle Fuel Cell Operation Control Key Technology and Application” project, which won the first place of the 2022 Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

It is the sole research initiative on hydrogen energy in Shanghai to receive this honor.

Topsoe uses AVEVA software to accelerate the world’s green hydrogen economy.

To accelerate the development of the decarbonization solutions required for the production of green hydrogen and other carbon neutral fuels, Topsoe, a leader in carbon emission reduction technologies, has chosen AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software, driving digital transformation and sustainability. To optimize the design and create a control plan for its Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cells (SOECs), Topsoe will model the SOECs using AVEVA Process Simulation.

Rapid decarbonization of all industries is necessary to meet the worldwide NetZero targets, but not all of them can be easily electrified. These industries, often known as the hard-to-abate sectors, include carbon-intensive ones like steel making and petrochemical production as well as heavy transportation like shipping and aviation. Finding carbon-free fuel substitutes for fossil fuels is a difficulty. In order to produce the green hydrogen required to decarbonize many of these carbon-intensive businesses, Topsoe’s extremely effective SOEC-based electrolyzers can be used. Since time is of the essence, AVEVA Process Simulation1’s flexibility, open modeling, and usability are enabling Topsoe’s engineers to build and optimize their electrolyzers with enhanced speed and efficiency, which is assisting in accelerating the energy transition.
