Westport to adapt hydrogen HPDIsystem for rail sector
A rail sector supplier of locomotives and related equipment has entered into an arrangement with Westport Fuel Systems, wherein the latter will modify their hydrogen HPDITM fuel system.
As part of a two-year hydrogen HPDI proof of concept project that is anticipated to start right away and be fully supported by the OEM, Westport will incorporate its HPDI technology into the engine design of the unidentified OEM.
This will be the first time one of Westport’s hydrogen HPDI systems has been used for a locomotive application, necessitating significant capital expenditures in machinery meant to function in difficult, solitary, and hostile conditions.
According to Westport, the fuel system may be a viable retrofit option in the high horsepower market, utilizing the base diesel engine’s established durability and offering an inexpensive way to quicken the decarbonization of the rail industry without sacrificing efficiency or performance.
Workshop discusses hydrogen production law
On Monday, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources held a workshop on green hydrogen production, consumption, and export laws.
The two-day course covered three issues from a study by a World Bank-appointed international expert on quality energy development through the Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
First, proposals for improving Jordan’s green hydrogen and ammonia sector legislation and regulation. The session also defined the roles of industry stakeholders based on international experience.
Second, explore technical solutions for producing green hydrogen and ammonia at the highest quality and lowest cost. Third, based on international expertise, identify the best marketing and commercial frameworks for producing, distributing, and exporting hydrogen and ammonia.
