Mortenson has began work on turbine erection on PacifiCorp’s 240 MW Pryor Mountain wind project located near Bridger, Montana.
The project will consist of four GE turbines and 110 Vestas turbines with clean, renewable energy totaling 240 MW.
In March 2020, the Mortenson project team mobilized at Carbon County. The scope of work includes improvements to the public roads, construction of access roads to each turbine site, foundations, underground collection, substation, building operations and maintenance (O&M) and met towers.
“We are delighted to be working with PacifiCorp to construct our fifth wind project in the Big Sky State, which will increase the state’s wind energy portfolio by 30 percent. Montana has great potential for wind energy and manufacturing, as it is known to be one of the U.S.’s windiest states.”
Tim Maag, vice president and general manager of Mortenson’s Wind Energy team.
Around 300 employees will be working on-site at Pryor Mountain at peak production. It is estimated the project will be complete by December 2020. The site will fuel approximately 76.000 homes southeast of Bridger once it is complete.
