Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, a division of Nel ASA, has reached an agreement with HH2E for two 60 MW electrolyzer facilities in Germany and a FEED (Front End Engineering and Design) study.
After a definite purchase order is placed, the FEED will start, and the parties hope to sign a contract for electrolyzer equipment in the first half of 2023.

The two 60 MW plants from HH2E will be among the biggest green hydrogen production facilities in Europe so far. Both facilities are in their initial stages and have the capacity to be further enlarged. The hydrogen will be used for heating, transportation, and industrial purposes. By 2030, HH2E intends to have 4 GW of electrolyzer capacity in Germany.

The FEED study and Letter of Intent are signed on Friday morning, the same day that Dr. Robert Habeck, vice chancellor of Germany, Terje Lien Aasland, minister of petroleum and energy of Norway, and Jan Christian Vestre, minister of industry and trade of Norway, are visiting Nel’s factory in Herøya, where the project’s electrolyzer equipment will be made.
