Horizon Fuel Cell Group intends to establish a new electrolyzer assembly gigafactory in India through a joint venture with Indify Fuel Cell.

The Singaporean company’s subsidiary HET Hydrogen, led by the former head of US hydrogen truck manufacturer Hyzon, aims to commence facility operations by 2026. The gigafactory is expected to have a minimum annual capacity of 100MW.

PEM and AEM Technologies

Horizon already possesses PEM electrolysis technology and is preparing to introduce a megawatt-scale AEM solution. The specific technology to be produced at the new Indian facility has not yet been clarified.

Location to be Announced

HET and Indify will reveal the facility’s Indian location in the coming months. Last year, the Indian Hydrogen Alliance (IH2A) projected that the market for domestically manufactured hydrogen equipment in India could reach $50 billion by 2030, with 34% of that market attributed to electrolyser stacks.
