Nippon Express Italia (NX Italy) has introduced a hydrogen-powered boat-based delivery service in Venice, Italy.

The European Union has set a target of decreasing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 percent from 1990 levels by 2030, and EU-based businesses are boosting their decarbonization efforts in response.

To realize its long-term vision of becoming a “logistics company with a strong presence on the global market,” the Nippon Express Group has made climate change one of its material issues and is working to reduce CO2 emissions in its operations and develop products and services that help its customers reduce their own CO2 emissions.

NX Italy has created a last-mile delivery service that reduces CO2 emissions from vehicle transport by utilizing hydrogen-powered boats for deliveries to premium fashion boutiques. These hydrogen-powered boats have detachable hydrogen generators and release far less CO2 than gasoline or diesel engines.

The Nippon Express Group will continue its efforts to create a sustainable society by reducing the environmental effect of logistics and promoting resource conservation and recycling.
