The Nordex Group has secured an order for the installation of a 240 MW wind farm in Texas, USA in 2021.

The project will be supplied with 50 Delta4000-series N155/4.X turbines and will run with a nominal power of 4.8 MW per wind turbine.

The project and customer are undisclosed.

With a rotor diameter of 155 meters, the N155/4.X turbines are ideally suited to the project’s site conditions, enabling the customer to achieve low energy costs.

“We are pleased to once again deliver Delta4000 turbines to the USA. The wind farm will be the 10th Nordex Group project in South Texas. This brings our installed volume in this region to almost 1.9 gigawatts.”

Patxi Landa, CSO of the Nordex Group.

A version of the Delta4000 series, the turbine N155/4.X is particularly suitable for regions with lower turbulence and medium wind speeds. It is also appropriate for sites which are not subject to stringent sound pollution regulatory requirements. This extends to areas in large parts of Spain, South Africa , Latin America and the United States.

The Nordex Group is now also selling the new rotor as a N155/5.X in the 5MW category in addition to the N155/4.X. The N155/5.X leverages the already proven components of the current 5.X series, the N149/5.X and the N163/5.X, to increase annual wind turbine energy generation. In certain wind conditions or in circumstances where less wind turbines result in a better overall energy cost in a grid-constrained project, this variant enhances competitiveness.
