New Zealand and Singapore have agreed to collaborate on hydrogen fuel research, production, and deployment.
Dr Megan Woods, Minister of Energy and Resources, said the memorandum of cooperation represented the beginning of cooperation on a critical future fuel choice.
She claimed that New Zealand has enough of renewable energy that could be used to manufacture low-carbon hydrogen for export.
“This partnership with Singapore, one of our most trusted, reliable, and long-standing Asian partners, is crucial,” she said.
Dr. Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Second Minister for Trade and Industry, signed the deal with Woods.
After a deal with Japan in 2018, this is New Zealand’s second hydrogen deal.
