Asyad and the Oman Hydrogen Centre at the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) have a Memorandum of Understanding to examine the possibilities of Oman’s ports and logistics services in establishing the country’s green hydrogen economy.

In order to improve the effectiveness of Asyad’s ports and logistics operations and the skills and human resources needed by the clean energy sector, Asyad and GUtech have a contract that calls for doing extensive research and analysis against worldwide best practices.

“Partnering with Oman Hydrogen Centre will help us identify, capture, and analyze our strengths and areas for improvement,” said Essam bin Nasser Al Shaibani, Vice President of Sustainability at Asyad Group. Additionally, it will enable us to acquire the information required to establish competitive standards for our logistics services, which will help the Sultanate support its goals to develop a green hydrogen economy and become carbon neutral by 2050.

Al Shaibani emphasized that Asyad is aiming to establish Oman as a center for the clean energy industry by implementing the most recent logistics technology to transport green hydrogen and its derivatives to markets all over the world. Additionally, it is closely collaborating with the public and business sectors to help the world become Net-Zero by the year 2050.

The relationship with Asyad, according to Sausan Said Al Riyami, Director of the Oman Hydrogen Centre at GUtech, is multifaceted and encompasses energy efficiency, renewable energy, green hydrogen, and capacity building. Asyad’s ports and logistical services, she continued, can lead the supply chain via research and development, the adoption of novel procedures, the development of local talent, and the attraction of regional and worldwide experience, as well as the transfer and localization of technology.
