Ørsted Bioenergy & Thermal Power A/S has released a tender titled “AVV Square 2.0 – Battery Energy Storage System (BESS),” published on February 7, 2025.

Interested parties must submit their applications by March 10, 2025. This tender represents a significant step forward in sustainable energy solutions, particularly relevant to the hydrogen industry due to its potential to enhance energy storage and distribution efficiency.

The primary objective of this tender is to install a Battery Energy Storage System at the Avedøre Power Station in Hvidovre, Denmark. The system will have a minimum capacity of 20 MW and is designed to support electrical grid stability by providing essential frequency control services. These services include Frequency Containment Reserve for both normal operations and disturbances, along with Fast and Automatic/Manual Frequency Restoration Reserves.

Key requirements for the tender include the delivery and installation of the BESS, which consists of several critical systems such as a battery bank, inverter, medium voltage interface, and metering system. The tender also includes a service and maintenance agreement for the BESS, with provisions for extensions up to a total of ten years.
