Phoenix Motor Inc., a producer of all-electric medium-duty cars, has bought manufacturing equipment for hydrogen fuel cells from Altergy Systems, including a robotic, automated fuel cell assembly line. Phoenix will make use of the manufacturing facility to develop and manufacture hydrogen fuel cells that will power forklifts, hybrid buses, vans, trucks, and heavy-duty trucks in addition to long-distance vehicles.
Phoenix Motorcars CEO Dr. Lance Zhou states, “We are thrilled to further extend our operations with our entry into the fast-expanding hydrogen fuel cell sector.” As we move to mass production of hydrogen fuel cells for the expanding EV market in the next quarters, Phoenix will be able to harness the automated production capabilities of these facilities thanks to the acquisition of these manufacturing assets.
The Inflation Reduction Act, often known as the U.S. climate bill, was signed into law this week, and Dr. Zhou continues, “It should give significant incentives, possibilities, and market stability for us to build this essential clean energy power source.” As we reach significant milestones in the hydrogen fuel cell sector, we will provide frequent updates while integrating the acquired assets and facilities into our business.
With its cutting-edge, robotic fuel cell assembly line, the purchased manufacturing plant in Folsom, California, has the capacity to build a fuel cell every 30 seconds. Phoenix Motorcars intends to increase production at the Folsom site in the upcoming quarters due to its capacity to manufacture fuel cells in large quantities utilizing off-the-shelf components, stamped and molded fabrication, robotic automated assembly equipment, and other methods.
