Two 30-ton-per-day (TPD) hydrogen liquefaction systems are to be delivered by Plug Power to TC Energy Corporation.

These 30TPD hydrogen liquefaction systems make one of the most energy-efficient designs available on the market today by using a hydrogen refrigeration cycle.

Because liquid hydrogen has a higher energy density than gaseous hydrogen, it is simpler to transport and use in industries with challenging carbon reduction targets. By using Plug’s incredibly effective and dependable liquefaction systems to liquefy hydrogen, TC Energy will see considerable cost reductions, a wider distribution area, and overall energy efficiency with the least amount of hardware.

In 2022, Plug acquired fundamental expertise in liquefaction systems, which are renowned for their operational effectiveness, adaptability, and dependability. With hydrogen serving as the refrigerant in the primary liquefaction cycle, Plug’s hydrogen liquefaction system boasts one of the most energy-efficient designs available. The result is the market’s most effective and economical product. In addition to commercializing this system, Plug is also making use of the systems in its countrywide network of environmentally friendly hydrogen production facilities, including those in Texas, California, and other places.

The TC Energy plants in North America that are not yet operational will be served by the two hydrogen liquefiers, which are expected to be delivered in Q2-Q3 2024.
