The Esbjerg-based technology company CS Electric will supply a shore power plant based on green hydrogen to the Port of Esbjerg.
According to the port and CS Electric, the shore power plant will be the first in the world to supply green hydrogen to shipping.
“We focus on developing efficient and sustainable solutions, and especially in the maritime industry, where the pace needs to be accelerated in terms of the green transition, we are ready with many good and CO2-reducing solutions,” says Søren Mathiasen, CEO of CS Electric.
The plant will be built with fuel cells from the Canadian company Ballard and is expected to be installed at the port in the second half of 2022, before which CS Electric will conduct a full functional test.
According to Gert Andersen, sales manager at CS Electric, the solution could eventually be used in other industries, for example as an energy supply for data centres.
