According to an early agreement, Total Eren will deploy compressed hydrogen ship carriers from Australian hydrogen developer Provaris Energy in its hydrogen projects in Asia and Europe.
The agreement gives the two parties a framework for their collaboration on an evaluation of green hydrogen projects being developed by Total Eren that can utilize Provaris’ ship carriers, known as GH2, for bulk transport of compressed hydrogen in markets that demand imports of pure gaseous green hydrogen.
In Australia’s Northern Territory, green hydrogen projects are run by both Provaris and Total Eren (NT). The $4.5 billion–$5.2 billion Tiwi hydrogen project is run by Provaris and is situated in the Australian Tiwi islands, 80 kilometers north of Darwin, the NT’s capital.
The Tiwi hydrogen project intends to start with an initial capacity of 50,000 t/yr and increase it to a maximum of 2,800MW of solar PV to create 100,000 t/yr of hydrogen for export.
To create more than 80,000 t/yr of green hydrogen, Total Eren intends to build a green hydrogen center in Darwin.
