PTTEP and POSCO Forge Alliance to Drive Hydrogen and CCS Innovations

PTTEP (PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited) and POSCO Holdings have joined forces once again, this time to explore groundbreaking opportunities within the realms of blue and green hydrogen as well as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. This strategic partnership aims to propel clean energy initiatives forward while fostering robust and environmentally responsible business growth.

Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Montri Rawanchaikul, CEO of PTTEP, a significant milestone has been reached with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PTTEP and POSCO Holdings. This pact solidifies their commitment to jointly explore and expand into businesses that champion clean energy and combat carbon emissions, particularly within the blue and green hydrogen value chain and CCS projects.

PTTEP and POSCO Holdings, each renowned for their prowess and experience in their respective domains, are poised to harness their collective strengths for the greater good. By aligning their efforts, they aim to unlock opportunities in clean energy development and related ventures, all while steadfastly working toward sustainable growth and greenhouse gas emission reduction.

The momentous signing of the MoU took place amid the prestigious H2 Mobility Energy Environment Technology (H2 MEET 2023) conference and exhibition in South Korea. This event, a magnet for the global hydrogen community, provided the ideal backdrop for PTTEP and POSCO Holdings to cement their collaborative vision.

Notably, this isn’t the first time PTTEP and POSCO Holdings have ventured into the realm of clean energy together. The two industry titans previously joined forces in a consortium alongside four other multinational giants. Their collective mission: to secure a contract for the development of an ambitious green hydrogen production project situated in Block Z1-02, within the Sultanate of Oman. This visionary undertaking aims to produce a staggering 220,000 tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030, contributing significantly to the global shift toward cleaner energy sources.

As the world races toward a sustainable future, partnerships like the one forged by PTTEP and POSCO Holdings become the linchpin for transformative change. This collaborative spirit, fueled by a shared commitment to clean energy innovation, promises to redefine our energy landscape and usher in a new era of environmental responsibility.
