West Africa is poised to emerge as a formidable player in the global green hydrogen market, with a visionary policy adopted by the region’s heads of state. This policy not only aims to elevate West Africa as a competitive green hydrogen producer but also envisions significant socioeconomic growth for local communities. By 2023, the region aspires to produce 0.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually, with a monumental target of 10 million tonnes per year by 2050.

The Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub in New South Wales (NSW) has received a substantial $45 million boost from the state government. This investment is poised to redefine the region’s industrial landscape, reduce emissions, and demonstrate the viability of green hydrogen at scale.

EWE Gasspeicher, a prominent German energy company, has taken steps to convert an existing natural gas cavern into a hydrogen storage facility. The application for this transformation has been submitted to the Federal Network Agency, marking a crucial milestone in the journey towards decarbonization.
