H2X Global, an Australian hydrogen fuel cell vehicle manufacturer, has inked a deal to supply hydrogen fuel cell-powered trucks and light vehicles to one of Sweden’s largest municipal trash firms.
Renova, which is owned by ten towns in the Gothenburg region of western Sweden, has signed a memorandum of understanding with H2X Global for the provision of five H2X commercial vehicles.
One 18-tonne backloader truck, one 28-tonne demountable truck, and three 3.5-tonne tail-lift trucks are among the vehicles (shown).
According to a release, the deal paves the door for H2X Global to expand its operations in Scandinavia for the development and manufacturing of cars for the transportation industry that uses hydrogen fuel cell electric propulsion.
“We feel that H2X is the partner of choice because not only do we provide a whole zero-emissions solution for our customers’ commercial fleet, but we also stay with our clients throughout the journey, including the aftersales market,” said Peter Westh, H2X Global’s head of northern Europe.
“In addition, the H2X concept is in line with the Scandinavian approach, which is very inventive and forward-thinking.
“A major component is our unique hybrid vehicle development methodology, which uses supercapacitors instead of batteries.”
The City of Gothenburg’s vehicle fleet aspires to be fossil-free by 2023, and carbon emissions across the city’s transportation system will be cut by 90% by 2030.
H2X Global recently announced that it will establish its European headquarters in the Gothenburg region, which is home to a number of renowned automotive businesses.
“The phasing out of fossil fuels is assisted by switching to hydrogen fuel cell technology in some applications,” stated Andersson, CEO of Business Region Göteborg.
