RWE Supply & Trading will purchase the full output of the Dutch onshore wind generated by Waddenwind, a group of local farmers in the province of Groningen.
RWE Supply & Trading expects its big industrial and municipal customers to market both the electricity and the associated guarantees of origin.
The wind farm, which consists of 12 wind turbines, is situated on a dyked area (Oostpolder) south of port Eemshaven. The turbines will generate an average of 190,000 megawatt-hours of green electricity per year, enough to provide electricity to an equivalent of 70,000 households.
The first wind turbines will start producing electricity in early 2021 and the entire wind farm is expected to be fully operational from January 2022.
