A safety monitoring system for hydrogen fuelling stations has been built, which manages the operational state of all stations in real time, 24 hours a day.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MTIE) and the state-run Korea Gas Safety Corp. (KGS) announced that a new safety monitoring system for hydrogen filling stations had begun full-scale operations.
The technology delivers information on the operating status of safety devices and key facilities within stations to the KGS’s control center in real time using unique programs installed at each fuelling station.
If an unexpected scenario is identified, the system immediately displays a warning siren on the control room screen and sends an emergency SMS alert to the fueling station safety managers and on-duty KGS staff.
The system will keep track of a total of 89 hydrogen filling stations (109 chargers) currently in use across the country.
Hydrogen fueling stations will now have a three-tier safety check system, including daily operator checks and KGS field inspections, thanks to the implementation of this real-time monitoring system.
