A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA) and its Singaporean counterpart, the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association of Singapore (HFCAS), will see the organizations collaborate to promote hydrogen and fuel cell technology as well as industry exchange and development.
In accordance with the MoU, both organizations agreed to identify and remove any shared technological obstacles preventing the production, delivery, storage, and use of hydrogen.
They are committed to exchanging materials including whitepapers, case studies, and reports in addition to sharing best practices for hydrogen and fuel cell rules and regulations.
The MoU further stipulates that networking and interactions between the SHFCA and the HFCAS will be facilitated through trade missions, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, webinars, and/or meetings.
Since its formation in 2019, HFCAS has pushed the use of hydrogen and fuel cells to aid Singapore’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and transition to a greener energy mix for power production, transportation, and industrial applications.
The SHFCA was founded in 2004 and now has more than 180 members from various sectors of business, education, and government. It advances knowledge of hydrogen and fuel cell technology.
The Scottish government unveiled a draft energy plan in January of this year with the intention of guiding the nation’s energy output over the following 25 years. Exporting electricity and renewable hydrogen to help decarbonization is one of the policy’s main tenets.
