Iberdrola member AVANGRID and Sempra Infrastructure have signed a heads of agreement (HOA) to discuss the potential combined development of green hydrogen and ammonia projects in the United States that use renewable energy.
The HOA gives the businesses a framework for locating, evaluating, and maybe developing large-scale green hydrogen projects that will aid in meeting the energy and decarbonization needs of both domestic and foreign clients.
Sempra Infrastructure’s complex project development and commercial capabilities across clean electricity, energy networks, LNG, and net-zero solutions are complemented by AVANGRID’s extensive background in renewable development as the third largest renewables operators in the U.S.
In North America, Sempra Infrastructure is currently working on a number of energy transition projects of the highest caliber, including LNG export projects to serve customers in the Atlantic and Pacific Basins, new ventures in renewable energy, carbon capture and sequestration, as well as alternative methods to produce clean hydrogen and ammonia by utilizing the resources in various regions.
The development of these joint projects is subject to a number of risks and uncertainties, including establishing final agreements, obtaining all required approvals, and making a final investment decision with respect to each project. The linked HOA is not binding.
