A strategic partnership agreement to build a hydrogen and methanol fuel cell manufacturing facility in India has been inked by SFC Energy and FC TecNrgy PVT (FCTec).

SFC Energy will found a subsidiary called SFC India, which will be in charge of quality control and production of the EFOY Methanol and Hydrogen fuel cells.

Its “go to partner” will be FCTec, who will manage the design, development, installation, and integration of special fuel cell solutions as well as the creation of other vital auxiliary system components and post-sale support.

The 35,000 sq m manufacturing plant will be built over several phases and will be situated in Uduog Vihar, Gurgaon, in the Greater Delhi hi-tech zone.

The two businesses have agreed to a mutual equity participation of the local businesses under the terms of the agreement. In order to fulfill the needs of the “Made in India” initiative, which seeks to increase investment in India, the corporate integration as well as the shared future plans are envisioned.

India aspires to cut its CO2 emissions by 45% from 2005 levels by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2070. The nation also seeks to guarantee the protection of the general populace’s health and an independent, sustainable energy source.

In the transportation, defense, and critical infrastructure sectors, fuel cells will take the role of the current diesel and gasoline generators. For all projects in India, a decentralized fuel supply using green hydrogen and methanol is “decisive”ly envisaged.

India authorized the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Plan, a $2 billion incentive program, last month to advance its green hydrogen development (SIGHT). The nation’s National Green Hydrogen Mission is a multifaceted support initiative with a projected $44 billion investment by 2030.
