In order to foster Lingang free trade zone’s growth into a major centre for the hydrogen industry, the Shanghai government has released a policy package.

As part of the package, plans have been drawn up for the construction of port terminals for the shipment of green hydrogen, stations for fueling future fleets of hydrogen-powered vehicles, and pilot facilities for producing green hydrogen using wind and solar power. It also includes starting demonstration projects for hydrogen-powered trucks and buses to run in the zone and luring fuel cell electric car manufacturers to set up shop in Lingang.

To help corporations all along the hydrogen supply chain invent technology, create new equipment, and expand their operations, a hydrogen industry development fund will be established.
