Siemens Energy and Porsche support HIF’s clean fuel production

Highly Innovative Fuels (HIF), a Chilean firm, is building a ground-breaking facility that might usher in a new era of energy.

According to ‘CNN,’ this HIF project, dubbed “Haru Oni,” is located in a 3.7-hectare region where 55 million dollars (roughly 50 million euros) were invested to build a viable commercial wind transformation process., water, and air into fuels for cars, boats, and planes, while reducing carbon emissions.

The business says that its wind turbine and carbon capture system can create roughly 130,000 gallons of gasoline per year. HIF said it expects to start producing synthetic gasoline later this year, despite the fact that the project is still under development.

Wind-generated power is used in the production process, which separates water into hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis. Carbon dioxide is absorbed from the atmosphere and industrial sources, then mixed with hydrogen to create “eFuels.”

Meg Gentle, the executive director of HIF USA, told CNN that the process can produce every form of fuel needed in everyday life, including methanol, propane, gasoline, and jet fuel. “In essence, everything that can be refined from crude oil can be created this way.”

The hydrogen utilized by the firm is green hydrogen, which is created from renewable sources rather than gray hydrogen, which is obtained from fossil fuels.

Despite the presence of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, HIF claims that the fuels it generates are carbon neutral since the collected carbon dioxide is released after burning, which Meg Gentle describes as “a CO2 recycling mechanism.”

HIF has teamed with corporations such as Siemens Energy and Porsche to implement the project, with the first receiving roughly 8 million euros in support and the second, in addition to spending around 20 million euros, purchasing the gasoline generated for use in its fleet.

HIF is still seeking airline partners for their synthetic jet fuel, eKerosene.
