Siemens Gamesa has entered into an arrangement with Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, a long-term customer of 81 MW, to supply the most powerful onshore wind turbine, the SG5.8-155, which represents the first acquisition of this new technology in Finland.
A total of 14 turbines with a 155-meter rotor will be shipped to the Alajoki-Peuralinna site in central Finland, a two-hour drive from the coastal town of Vaasa. The turbine will be optimized to meet site specifications, like high towers, to harness better wind speeds and improve electricity generation. The turbines will also be fitted with a low-temperature kit and Ice operation to enable them to operate in any condition. The commissioning of the wind farm is set for 2022.
