Sinopec, a Chinese energy giant, has launched Hong Kong’s first public hydrogen refueling station, which marks its first hydrogen site outside mainland China.

The new station is designed to supply 1,000 kg of hydrogen per day and operates 24/7, catering to a diverse mix of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) such as buses, sanitation vehicles, passenger cars, and engineering vehicles. This move is part of Sinopec’s broader commitment to supporting Hong Kong’s hydrogen industry and providing sustainable energy solutions.

Sinopec is not only expanding its presence in hydrogen infrastructure but is also involved in numerous strategic partnerships aimed at fostering innovation and growth in the energy sector. For instance, it has entered into agreements with companies like TotalEnergies to bolster strategic cooperation, highlighting the company’s dedication to advancing energy solutions.

By establishing this hydrogen station, Sinopec takes a significant step in promoting cleaner transportation options and advancing the hydrogen economy in Hong Kong. The initiative reflects a blend of conventional energy offerings with modern, sustainable alternatives, showcasing the evolving energy landscape in Asia.
