Snam4Mobility and OG partnership could lead to hydrogen initiatives

Snam4Mobility, an Italian energy infrastructure company, and OG, a Dutch company that owns and operates sustainable fuels service stations in the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden, have agreed to build a new Bio-LCNG refueling station in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

This agreement is part of a larger sustainable mobility collaboration project between the two companies. The station, which will be built by Snam4Mobility by the end of the year and operated by OG as part of its network of service stations, will provide both liquefied and compressed biomethane to power sustainable mobility in Germany for both light and heavy-duty vehicles.

Snam4Mobility has established expertise in managing permissions, building, servicing, and maintaining sustainable fuels (Bio-CNG, Bio-LNG) distribution infrastructure, and this agreement marks the company’s first step outside of Italy.

“The cooperation with Snam4Mobility is a great step forward to further expand our Bio-LNG and Bio-CNG network in Germany,” said Wijtze Bakker, Head Network Development Europe at OG. “The experience that Snam4Mobility has in Italy makes them the ideal partner to further expand our international clean refuelling network and fits perfectly with our ambition to be the largest independent clean fuel retailer in Europe. Four new Bio-LCNG stations will be opened in Germany this year, with the aim of opening a total of twenty stations in the next three years.”

The new German Bio-LCNG stations will contribute to the establishment of an OG network of Clean Fuel Stations in Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands, making international transportation even greener. At all of OG’s CNG stations, 100% Bio-CNG is available. OG will only offer 100 percent Bio-LNG at its LNG stations starting in January 2023.

“With this agreement, we are launching an important partnership to help decarbonise light and heavy transports in Germany, by leveraging our expertise in building and managing refueling stations and combining our strengths with those of OG along the biomethane value chain”, said Alessio Torelli, Chief Executive Officer of Snam4Mobility.

The parties’ collaboration could lead to future projects aimed at expanding Bio-CNG and Bio-LNG supply infrastructure in Germany, as well as potential hydrogen initiatives, all of which would help to decarbonize transportation and reduce polluting emissions.
