Solaris, a leading hydrogen bus manufacturer in Europe, continues its expansion into the German market with an order of 26 Urbino 12 hydrogen buses from REVG Kerpen. The remaining 24 buses are scheduled to be delivered by 2025.

The ordered buses are equipped with 70 kW hydrogen fuel cells, which generate electrical energy onboard using central electric motors. Additionally, these buses come with Solaris High Power batteries designed to support the fuel cells during peak demand. This technology underscores Solaris’ commitment to advancing sustainable transportation solutions.

Solaris holds a dominant position in the European market, capturing a 44.5% market share in hydrogen bus manufacturing in 2023. Germany, in particular, shows a significant investment in hydrogen-powered buses, enhancing the country’s public transport network’s sustainability and efficiency.

Besides Kerpen, Solaris Urbino hydrogen buses are already operating in various German cities, including Cologne, Wuppertal, Hofolding, Weimar, Frankfurt, Gross-Zimmern, Aschaffenburg, and the Munich metropolitan area. Further deals are in the pipeline for other cities such as Krefeld, Güstrow, Gross-Gerau, Hamburg, Gummersbach, and Duisburg.
