Solaris Bus & Coach has secured a contract to deliver 22 Urbino hydrogen-powered buses to Île-de-France Mobilités, Paris’ fleet operator.
The procurement of hydrogen buses by Île-de-France Mobilités aligns with the region’s commitment to sustainable mobility and reducing carbon emissions. The deployment of these buses represents a key milestone in Paris’ efforts to transition towards cleaner, greener transportation options.
Solaris’ Urbino hydrogen buses utilize fuel cell technology, which converts hydrogen gas into electricity to power electric motors, emitting only water vapor and heat as by-products. These zero-emission buses offer an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional diesel-powered vehicles, contributing to improved air quality and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
The introduction of hydrogen buses into Paris’ public transit fleet is expected to yield several significant benefits. By eliminating tailpipe emissions, these buses will help reduce air pollution and mitigate the adverse effects of urban congestion on public health. Additionally, the adoption of hydrogen technology supports the growth of the green economy, creating opportunities for job creation and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
