The Dirección General de la Fundación Ciudad de la Energía has issued a significant tender titled “Suministro integral de equipos y materiales, ingeniería, montaje y puesta en servicio de la instalación de un sistema de compresión y almacenamiento de hidrógeno” for the comprehensive supply of equipment and materials, engineering, assembly, and commissioning of a hydrogen compression and storage system.

The publication date for this tender was January 15, 2025, and the submission deadline is yet to be specified. The tender is crucial for the hydrogen industry as it represents a substantial investment in hydrogen infrastructure, expected to enhance storage and compression capabilities at the Centro de Desarrollo de Tecnologías in Cubillos del Sil, León, Spain.

The main objective of this tender is to install an integrated hydrogen compression and storage system. This involves the supply of core components such as a buffer storage system, a compression module housed in a container, stationary storage, expansion valves, and a flow meter. Additionally, there will be a loading point for tube trailers and storage racks. These installations aim to bolster the existing hydrogen infrastructure, facilitating efficient storage and transport, which is pivotal for advancing the hydrogen economy and reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuels.

This tender is a part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR) financed by the European Union’s Next Generation EU fund. The focus on hydrogen storage and compression is aligned with broader EU goals for sustainable and clean energy solutions.
