Stadler will present at Innotrans 2022 its new hydrogen-powered Flirt H2 multiple unit that has been acquired by the Bernardino County Transportation Authority in California, USA.
The unit will be the first hydrogen-powered commuter unit in the United States and is destined for the Redlands project in California, a fourteen-kilometer link between Redlands and the San Bernardino Metrolink station.
The Flirt H2 vehicle consists of two cars and a central module called the “Power Pack” that houses the batteries and hydrogen tanks. The train has a braking energy recovery system. Each unit, which can accommodate 108 seated passengers and offers ample space for standing passengers, can reach a maximum speed of 130 km/h (80 mph).
