Hydrogen Roadmap foresees a sequence of advancements in this section of mobility for the coming 2030, although they are still a long way off.

In Spain, this sort of vehicle is essentially non-existent, with only 15 registered hydrogen vehicles and a recharging station index that isn’t much better. In comparison to the 150 that the plan envisions for the next 9 years, there is now not a single public hydrogenerator in Spanish territory (there are, however, private hydrogenerators).

The Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers has created its own hydrogen vehicle development lines in order to find a means to promote this mode of transportation, which has been recognized as critical in the decarbonization of the Spanish car park. Its ten measures are as follows:

Plans that provide incentives for the purchase of autos. Because the cost of hydrogen cars remains high, we must continue with the Moves program and urge public fleets to purchase them.

Plans for assisting in the development of hydrogen refueling infrastructure. The supply infrastructure is critical for simultaneously incentivizing purchase. In this context, we must define a medium-term goal for 2025.

Ensure that green hydrogen is available at a reasonable price. We must encourage the creation of green hydrogen while simultaneously lowering the cost of power, lowering the overall cost.

Framework for homologation, distribution, and decommissioning of hydrogen cars. The present regulatory framework will need to be adapted to these new mechanisms.

The natural gas network has hydrogen constraints. To overcome the limitations of a hydrogen supply network, projects must be supported.

The establishment of a system of origin guarantees. To ensure the usage of renewable energy sources.

The development of public access supply infrastructure is fraught with administrative challenges. It will be essential to draft appropriate laws for hydrogenerators, bringing them up to par with service stations in terms of consideration, as well as to examine and alter their classification as an industrial activity. It would also be beneficial to make administrative procedures easier.

Support for hydrogen vehicle research and development. With research programs and investment that advances the value chain, the industry must be rewarded.

Promote hydrogen-based training strategies. These new mechanisms will need educational and training systems to adjust as well.

The deployment of hydrogen-based mobility is governed. To guarantee compliance with all of the hydrogen route’s aims, it is suggested that a ministerial public body be established.
