Swinburne University of Technology is tackling the pressing skills gap in Australia’s rapidly growing hydrogen sector through a new series of 11 micro-learning modules.

The initiative, funded by the Victorian Government and announced during National Skills Week, aims to upskill the current workforce to expedite the nation’s shift toward hydrogen energy. Swinburne Edge teamed up with industry leaders to develop these interactive digital modules, providing targeted, practical knowledge designed for immediate implementation.

Dr. Werner van der Merwe, Swinburne’s Vice President of Innovation and Enterprise, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative.

“Swinburne is incredibly proud to have developed a product, supported by the Victorian Government, that immediately addresses these critical skills gaps across Australia to help achieve net-zero,” Dr. van der Merwe stated.

Dr. van der Merwe highlighted the unique collaboration between academic expertise and industry knowledge, aiming to prepare the workforce for the clean energy transition.

“We are working closely with industry to give workers the skills they need to take advantage of the clean energy transition. By bringing together Swinburne’s technical and educational expertise with industry knowledge and human capital, we’re helping Australian businesses create a better world,” he added.
