Enersense and Q Power have reached an important deal for the supply of steel structures for reactor modules for a methanation facility.

The agreement is connected to Q Power’s delivery of a synthetic methane production facility to P2X Solutions in Harjavalta. The plant is being constructed in tandem with a green hydrogen generating plant. P2X’s green hydrogen and synthetic methane production plants are pioneers in Finland’s hydrogen economy and synthetic fuel production. They are the country’s first plants of their size and type.

Part of the hydrogen produced sustainably in Harjavalta will be converted into synthetic methane at the Q Power-supplied methanation plant. The facility will be delivered and commissioned with the green hydrogen generating plant in 2024. The modular constructions will be manufactured in Enersense’s production facilities in Mäntyluoto. The order will be recorded in Enersense’s Smart Industrial business area’s order book for the first quarter of 2023.

Q Power’s approach is operational: the reactors include microorganisms, which are essential for methanation, hence the reactors must be of exceptionally high and consistent quality.

P2X Solutions is owned by Enersense to the tune of 16.3%. Enersense is interested in decreasing heavy transport emissions using hydrogen and synthetic fuels through P2X, as well as providing energy storage opportunities generated by green hydrogen.
