TCPL GES, a subsidiary of Tata Cummins Private Limited, inaugurated a manufacturing facility dedicated to producing hydrogen-based Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) for medium and heavy commercial vehicles.

The venture, a collaboration between Tata Motors and Cummins, underscores a shared commitment to decarbonization and innovation in India’s automotive sector.

Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, emphasizes the transformative potential of hydrogen-based powertrains in shaping India’s mobility landscape. The facility, situated in Jamshedpur, showcases Tata Motors and Cummins’ dedication to technological advancement, manufacturing excellence, and environmental stewardship.

With a longstanding partnership spanning three decades, Tata Motors and Cummins established TCPL GES in 2023, focusing on the development of low and zero-emission propulsion technologies tailored for Indian commercial vehicles. These solutions are poised to play a pivotal role in advancing India’s sustainability goals, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and bolstering the nation’s journey towards net-zero emissions.

Ashwath Ram, Managing Director of Cummins Group in India, reaffirms Cummins’ commitment to manufacturing advanced low to zero-emission technologies, aligning with their “Destination Zero” strategy. The endeavor reflects Cummins’ global expertise and dedication to environmental responsibility.

The inauguration of Tata Motors’ fifth Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) further underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability. With the capacity to disassemble 18,000 end-of-life vehicles annually, the facility represents a significant step towards promoting responsible vehicle disposal and fostering a circular economy.
