Técnicas Reunidas has secured the design engineering contract for Fortescue’s Holmaneset project.

The Holmaneset project, situated off the coast of Nordgulen Fjord in western Norway, unfolds as a major component of Fortescue’s strategy to contribute significantly to the global green hydrogen and ammonia market. With a focus on sustainability, the project encompasses a 300 MW hydrogen production plant, a green ammonia synthesis plant, storage facilities, and marine infrastructure.

The technological prowess of the Holmaneset project lies in its multiple electrolyzer modules, a green ammonia synthesis plant with a daily capacity of 675 tons, and comprehensive marine infrastructure, including a port and a submarine water pipeline. Técnicas Reunidas anticipates deploying over 70,000 hours of high-value chemical engineering to bring this cutting-edge facility to fruition.

The Holmaneset undertaking is poised to become one of Norway’s largest green energy facilities, playing a strategic role in the nation’s energy transition. With a commitment to supplying both the domestic market and European counterparts, the project is pivotal for decarbonizing industries and fostering a continental green energy market.
